How Reverse Osmosis Works
Reverse osmosis softens water by forcing unfiltered water with lots of salts (and other elements) through a series of filters and semipermeable membranes and not allowing those elements to come through. Whatâs left is fresh, clean water ready to use at a moment's notice.
3 Stages of Particle Removal
While most reverse osmosis systems have 1-2 filters for removing dirt, salt, and harmful metals from water, the Nu Aqua Platinum Series 5 Stage RO system comes with 3 filters that'll get rid of contaminants that make your water heavy and hard to drink.
- Stage 1- Sediment Filter- This stage utilizes a 5 micron 10â tall high capacity spun polypropylene sediment filter. This will remove large particles such as dirt, silt, rust and sand.
- Stage 2- Pre Carbon Filter- This 10â tall granular activated carbon filter removes the more fine deep seated particles such as sludge, rust, color, odor and other organic pollutants.
- Stage 3- Carbon Filter- At this stage a coconut carbon block filter will remove any remaining chlorine, chloramines, volatile organic compounds, heavy metals and any bad taste or odor.
Booster Pump Included!
The pre-installed booster pump boosts low water pressure coming into the system to increase its filtering efficiency. That means you increase the amount of clean water you get and the speed in which you get it, all while decreasing the amount of waste water you produce at a higher rate than you would without a pump.
2 Stages of Water Polishing
What's clean water without that fresh scent and flavor? Nu Aqua knows that it's not just enough to take particles out of your water, you've got to make sure that your water looks, smells, and tastes good, too. That's why they added two stages of polishing to ensure your water's refreshing from the inside out.
- Stage 4- RO Membrane- The TFC Reverse Osmosis Membrane is a thin, semipermeable membrane water is forced through to remove remaining dissolved solids such as salt.
- This purified water is then sent to the NSF approved 4 gallon RO storage tank where it is stored and ready to be used.
- Stage 5- Carbon Polishing Filter- The inline T33 granular activated coconut shell carbon filter polishes your water and remove any bad taste or odor before it's sent out the faucet.
